On this day in 1965 President Lyndon Johnson signed an amendment to the Social Securities Act that established Medicare and Medicaid.
Healing God, may we always seek to care for those who are ailing. Let us look for ways to help those who cannot afford what so many of us take for granted in our health care. Let us remember the many miracles of healing that are shared in scripture and recognize that we have the ability to provide healing for so many people in need. Give us the wherewithal to stand up for actions that lead to helping others. May we grow the availability for people to access good health care as an act of love for our neighbors. May your healing love be with us all. Amen
