Prayer for November 12, 2025

As our country moves past its longest shutdown, may our representatives learn that holding Americans hostage for their inability to govern in a timely and bipartisan manner hurts all of us, but even more so for the poorest among us.  May those whose intransigence be held accountable when the time comes for them to face voters and may we move back to where a time where shutdown is not an acceptable strategy.  Let us find ways to come to common ground and make sure that our elected officials know that their ability to keep the government open and functioning in a fair and just way is central to their jobs.  May you guide our government toward a better future, O God of all Creation.  Amen
