Prayer for January 20, 2026

Yesterday, O God we celebrated the life of the Rev. Dr Martin Luther King, Transforming God, and I often find myself on the day after an event pondering what is next.  MLK and many others from that time continue to form our view of the world and yet it seems that we are in time of change.  May the tension we feel with our history and peoples’ desire to change history’s narrative be one where truth wins out.  May we look at ourselves as the imperfect, yet trying, people we are; honestly seeing our gifts and our shortcomings.  May we attempt to live into a dream of a better world and be willing to fight to make it happen each and every day.  Amen
