On this day in 1989, the Berlin Wall opened up reuniting families and the German people .
O God who calls us to love our neighbors and to be welcoming of the foreigners in our midst. Help us to tear down the wall that divide us and create caring communities that seek to unite us with each other. Let us find ways to celebrate the cultural patches of community that builds upon our diversity creating a beautiful quilt that expresses our desire to become one body in you O God. May we look to the ways in which we can walk in love as you loved us sharing the grace you give us by your example and become blessings to those around us. Amen.
