Thank you, Loving God, for our sisters and brothers. We have those who have been born to us, others added because of the changes and realities of parents with broken relationships. May we, as the children of those odd realities love each other and not be taken up into the hurt that our parents may feel for one another and instead celebrate the gift of siblings we have acquired and know and love someone close to us. Let us recognize that we have no control over how our parents marriages became, and instead live into the new reality that our families have expanded. May those of us who are decades out of having experienced extended family help others who are new to it, and let them know the blessing of additional siblings, whether by marriage, adoption or fostering. May we celebrate family in its many forms. Amen.
