Prayer for April 17, 2023

In looking at what happened in History on this day, O God of Peace, I am struck by how many events of war and violence are remembered today. It appears we have not learned our history and the futility of war. We have several wars going on in the world today and so much of the world seems to be ramping up for it. Help us to find ways to stop the current wars and change how we prioritize military might over care for our neighbor. Clearly, war hasn’t worked and we truly haven’t tried the love and compassion to which you have called us. May we change our swords into plowshares and make our world more like you intend. Amen.
