Prayer for May 8, 2023

May we who have done little to push for changes in how we address gun safety and mental health do more than wring our hands and keep people in our thoughts and prayers, Loving God. Let our voices and votes force those with the power to make our world and country safer do that very hard work. Simply saying what we want and not backing it up with electing people who will do the people’s will is no longer enough. Empower us to use all the tools available to seek common sense changes that will protect us from these mass shootings. May those who are dealing with such evil building in their minds find the help they need, and those who are close to them the wherewithal to report their concerns. May we seek to love one another as you love us and fight hard against the hate that seems to be pervading our society. Let love prevail. Amen.
