Prayer for October 1, 2023

There are times, O God, when we hear your call and don’t immediately respond. May we, who often think we couldn’t be the one you are calling, recognize that you look to us who know fear, anxiety and inadequacy to be present to others in similar places. May we be confident in the faith you have in us especially when we don’t see ourselves as worthy. Let us seek out those who might feel marginalized, outcast or unwelcome by so much of society and become a place where they can feel welcomed and part of a loving community. Let us work hard to become a place of joy, wonder, hope and praise. Let us be ready when you call, and responsive when our gifts and skills are needed. All this we ask in the name of you O God. Amen
