On this day in 1676, Isaac Newton was said to have written to Robert Hooke, “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants.”
O Lord our God, we have benefitted from building upon the ideas and work of others. Thank you for the foundation of knowledge and innovation they have given us. Help us to continue to search for the next right answers to see further. May we become the next generation of giants who see what might exist because we are willing to look to at what may be possible. May we be willing to fail often so that we might succeed sooner. Give us inquiring minds and forgiving hearts as we challenge each other to see an even better world. Allow our love for one another to be a catalyst to find the next level of understanding that helps find ways to cure illness, stop poverty and build people up. All this we ask in your most Holy Name. Amen.
