I wrote this prayer not knowing that a mentor of mine had died earlier in the day. Thank you for who you were for so many Joe Jester.
O Lord our God, be with us this day as we remember those we have lost. Help us celebrate their lives and all that we have learned from them. May our actions reflect the ways in which the people who have gone before us formed us. They live on in how we live our lives. May we remember how short life can be and live each moment for the unique gift that it is for us. Let us treat those we meet as special and worthy of our attention and love. Allow us the time to grieve their loss and the strength to celebrate the gift their lives were to us a bit more. All this we ask in the name of the God who heals us. Amen
