O God who desires us to turn swords into plowshares, help us this day to remember those who sacrificed themselves on days like this day (D-Day in 1944) in hopes that future generations would not have to face the kind of world that required that kind of sacrifice. May we never forget what it means to be in a world at war, and try instead to find ways to foment peace and love in a world that desperately needs it. Help us not to be divided by greed and lured by a desire for power and instead look to ways that we can love one another and look to make the world a place where war, hatred, bigotry, slavery, poverty and so many other things that destroy are no longer a part of this world. Let us look to what is good and just as our guide. It is in your name we pray. Amen
I have been reading your prayers for a while and am always surprised by how parallel our thoughts are…but you say it better.
On the social media topic, I decided when it first came out that it was to invasive so I don’t do social media at all. I’m sure that I would find that it brought out the worst in me. Try just not doing it for a while. Email with friends is enough.
