Today is the lesser feast day of Jeremy Taylor, who was described as the “Shakespeare of Divines” for his writings. It is appropriate that one of his writings was a set of prayers. Golden Grove; or a Manuall of daily prayers and letanies . . . (1655)it can be found at this link http://anglicanhistory.org/taylor/golden/prayers.html
O God of all Creation, we thank you for the many people who have provided us with prayers that have given us the words when we could not find them. Their ability to speak the words of comfort, compassion, fear, anxiety and love that we are feeling when we cannot express them, or are in need of knowing that others have been were we find ourselves now is such an incredible gift. May we find those words when we need them, and provide them for others when it is our time. May our prayers always remember the gift you give, the needs of others and the knowledge that we are not alone. All this we ask in your Holy Name. Amen
And our thanks to you for the daily prayers that you offer for our use an benefit.
