Prayer for October 8, 2021

On this day in 1985, “Les Miserables” a musical based on Victor Hugo’s book opened in the West End.  It is the longest running West End musical in history.  May have to listen to all the musical at the loudest setting or watch one of the reunion specials.

O God, we thank you for the stories that are told which allow us to better understand the fact that we live in an imperfect word where forgiveness, redemption and poverty collide.  We are grateful for the lessons those stories tell and especially so when music somehow tells those stories even better.  May we, who struggle with the challenges of living in these challenging times, where we do not know the burden that those around us are bearing, find ways to have the empathy needed for them to know that we love them and want to journey with them to a better world. May we allow the music that expresses so well all of our emotions fill us with your spirit and guide us into who you would have us be.  Amen.
