On this day in 1947 Howard Hughes flew the Spruce Goose for its one and only flight of about one mile.
O God who created us with the ability to dream and imagine amazing possibilities, may we we continue to look to what is next with excitement and wonder. May we celebrate innovations that aid the neediest among us. Help us to recognize that we not only have the ability but the responsibility to use the many gifts we have been given to make it so no one goes to sleep hungry or thirsty. Let us take the risk of giving more than we find comfortable in order that we might accomplish so much in service to others. May our actions reflect the faith we have in you Loving God. Amen
