Prayer for February 20, 2022

Loving God, you call us at times to respond to hateful actions in ways that are uncomfortable to us. You ask us to turn the other cheek, respond to the thief by giving more and to treat those who revile us with love. Help us in those times to at least reply in a way that our hurt and anger aren’t the lead emotions. We want to lash out to people acting unjustly to us and be judge and jury and punisher. May we be strong enough to release control to you, O God, and take back the power to love rather than hate. Give us your blessing and your confidence that you will make all things well in the end. Amen
