Today is the first Aiken Steeplechase in two years and it is also the first race at the new venue. I wrote this prayer to be read before the races.
O God of All Creation, we come before you on this glorious day to celebrate the beauty, strength and wonders of your creation. We thank you for the majesty of the horses we will see race and fly on our Steeplechase Course today. May they be fleet of foot and free from injury as they run their races. Especially we honor the hard work of our Horses, trainers, jockeys, owners and all who care for these incredible athletes. We are grateful to all who have worked to make this first race at our new track special. May may you pour out your blessings upon us all as we enjoy the many wonderful gifts this day brings. All this we ask in your name. Amen
