Prayer for May 26, 2022

May your presence be felt with the families who are mourning the loss of the 21 people killed in a school shooting in Texas, O God. Help those people for whom similar experiences have renewed pain to have hope that this is the last time they will feel this pain without those in power working to do more than give lip service to the reality that we need to change how we protect our children. Let us as a people rise up with enough passion to make reasonable changes quickly. May we let those that seem to think they can get away with doing nothing know that is no longer acceptable. May we hold those who have the power to act and make our children safe to a higher bar than to simply think and pray. Empower us to make the changes that need to be made. Amen.
