Prayer for August 27, 2022

You call us, O God, to be welcoming to the stranger in our midst. Help us to truly live into what that means. Strangers come in many packages and we need to be ready to provide comfort, shelter, sustenance and simply presence to them in their time of need. May we know that many people we meet even if they seem just like us may in fact feel like outsiders and only want to feel like they belong. May we be a people who create an environment that allows them to find a place for themselves so that we can become even more welcoming to others. All this we ask in your Name. Amen
