On this day in 1965, Loving God, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King began a march that would take them from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama to call for voting rights for Black Americans. Help us to remember that peoples rights to vote, speak, and pray are foundational in a just society. May we stand up for those who are treated as other in our world and honor the dignity of everyone. Let us learn from those who have fought hard for the outcasts to be welcomed and strive to follow that example when our time comes. May you guide us to love one another as you have loved us. Amen.
