Prayer for May 20, 2023

Loving God, we ask that your comforting Spirit be with those who are dealing with challenging times. There are people who are mourning the loss of those they love due to addiction that comes from mental illness or pain that they were unable to manage. Help us to see the signs and be there for them to prevent those deaths from happening. May those struggling with addiction find a way out of the dark place in which they find themselves. May we work hard to find new ways to provide care for them and to stop those who would take advantage of their pain however it is manifesting itself. May those families and friends who are dealing with the decline that comes from watching someone they love descend into the abyss of addiction feel your presence and know they are not alone. Let your Spirit guide us now and always. Amen
