Prayer for January 14, 2021

O Lord our God, inspire us this day to be compassionate.  May we look at our neighbors as family.  Like all families we have challenges, and we need reminders that we while we don’t always get along or agree with each other, we are called to love one another.  May that love pervade our thoughts today as we have so many distractions that are attempting to let the evil of hate infiltrate our hearts.  May we not be consumed by trying to win every battle and instead be filled with a spirit of caring.  May we find ways to build up rather than tear down.  May we look for what will benefit us all rather than trying to make certain we get what we want first.  Let us work together for a world that feeds the hungry, soothes the suffering and helps those in need.  Help us see the opportunities you have for us today to express your love in a world that desperately needs to know your presence.  All this we ask in your most Holy Name.  Amen.
