On this day that we celebrate April Fools and Maundy Thursday, may we remember the reality that giving of ourself to those who are needy, and to ask for help is who God wants us to be seems somehow foolish. May we know that our understanding of the poor and foolish is not true to reality. Help us to move beyond society’s definition of what is true and right. May we, on this day that we begin to recognize Christ’s sacrifice, move beyond the expectations we have of why we give to those who need and simply give with no expectations. Allow us the freedom to let go of the control we desire and celebrate the opportunity to give without expectation. All this we ask in your name. Amen.
