One year ago today, I decided I did not like what I was posting on social media, and that I was too angry too early in the day. I chose to begin my day with a prayer that I wrote for the day ahead of me. I honestly did not know how long I would attempt this practice, but hear I am a year later and still praying. I have noticed that I find myself in fewer tension filled social media arguments and that has been freeing.
Each Day, O God, is an opportunity for a new beginning. Help us to use each day to better ourselves, our relationships and the world around us. May we know that many of the things we do each day are building a foundation for future generations. Let us see beyond ourselves and the time in which we find ourselves. Give us strength to become passionate about caring for others and the patience to know that things don’t always work at the pace we desire. We are grateful for the example of love and forgiveness witnessed by those who have gone before us. May we in our time be as giving of ourselves as the heroes to whom we look for guidance and example. May we use this day to become blessings to you and others. Amen
