Prayer for December 26, 2021

On this day we remember the first martyr of the church, Stephen. What has always marked it for me is that one of the greatest saints was on the wrong side that day. May we, who sometimes stand back and hold coats while others do what we know to be wrong, have the courage and the strength to stand up when our time comes. May we transform our priorities so that we put others needs ahead of our own desires. Give us the guidance when we struggle to make the best decision when we are faced with what seem to be no right answer. Help us to be as forgiving of those who hurt us as Stephen was even until the end. Let us live all our lives as your would have us, loving and forgiving. Amen
