Prayer for December 16, 2022

May we be charitable today, Loving God. So often we shut down our compassion very quickly, especially when we see the veritable “beggar at the gate.” We look down so that we don’t have to look in their eyes, or come up with our own narrative for why they find themselves in the place they are, and look to refuse them automatically. Let us give as you gave, O God. We don’t have to know the outcome of what people do with the gifts we give. Instead, let our gifts be something that we have no expectation of the outcome other than that we were willing to use our blessings to bless someone else. What they do with it is not our concern. May we celebrate the incredible place we find ourselves by using our abundance to let others feel our appreciation for the many blessings we have received. Amen
