Prayer for December 18, 2022

The example of adoption has been seen throughout scripture, O God of All Creation. We thank you for Joseph’s example having chosen Jesus (Emmanuel) as is son. Raising our Savior to understand what it means to be chosen as his beloved child. That example, Loving God, set the stage for all of us to be adopted as beloved children, chosen by Jesus as redeemed and sanctified. May we treat others with that same willingness that Joseph responded by choosing to follow his personal call. Let us welcome those who are struggling to find family with open arms. Help us to celebrate others who take on roles as parent to children in foster care, blended families, standing in for parents who for whatever reason cannot be there for those children who are in need. Allow us to be blessing to those beloved children of God who find themselves searching for the gift of a loving parent. Amen
